Oke…kita ngomong apa kejutannya itu. Dimulai dari akuisisi feedburner.com oleh Google, Feedburner Ad Network diintegrasikan dengan contextual ads baru. Beda dengan contextual sebelumnya yang me-load javascript, feed ads ini berupa map image berukuran 468×60 yang muncul di setiap feed artikel (contoh screenshot bisa dilihat disini). Into the wild: AdSense for feeds
We’ve been hinting at this for awhile, but it’s finally time to spill the beans: Starting next week, we’ll be rolling out AdSense for feeds to a small group of publishers, in anticipation of a full launch to all FeedBurner and AdSense publishers “coming soon”. If you start seeing “Ads by Google” on an ad in a feed somewhere, that’d be us.
So what will this mean for you? Well, publishers already in the FeedBurner Ad Network will continue to see premium CPM ads directly sold onto their content, but with the added bonus of contextually targeted ads that will fill up the remainder of their inventory. That means you get the best of both worlds: a dedicated Google sales force that knows how and why to sell onto your content, with the added revenue that full back-fill coverage provides. And with AdSense, you’ll know that your back-filled ads are using the strongest contextual ad engine, ensuring the most relevant and profitable ads are delivered to your subscribers. And yes, ads are also sold via Google’s AdWords program.

Sisi baiknya, orang lebih cenderung membuka email lebih dulu daripada membuka situs. Dan bagi website yang sudah mempunyai subscribed member sangat banyak, hal ini memberi keuntungan mendapatkan earning dari loyal visitor daripada new visitor. Dan yang paling utama, tidak memerlukan optimasi SEO yang njlimet (tentunya SEO perlu diawal buat cari trafik, dan makin banyak visitor, makin banyak yang subscribe…dari situ tinggal menikmati hasilnya :p.

Seberapa besar hasil yang didapat dari Google Adsense for Feed tersebut? Saya rasa tiap situs akan berbeda. Yang jelas semakin banyak subscribed member yang ada akan semakin besar hasilnya. Berikut adalah screenshot hasil dari ngumpulin receh Adsense bulan September.

Alhamdulillah, jumlah member subscribed di beberapa network situs saya saat ini sekitar 30.000 email. Dari 30K email, katakanlah yang membuka setiap harinya 5000 subscriber dan yang ngeklik iklan rata-rata 150 per hari, biasanya $20 ~ $30. Bisa dikatakan sedikit CPC-nya, karena memang situs-situs saya bersifat memberi informasi yang mungkin tidak begitu tinggi nilai keywordnya.

Trus bagaimana mengimplementasikan feed ads tersebut? Cukup mudah…
Misalkan Anda sudah mempunyai account Google Adsense, tinggal bikin ads baru seperti halnya create Adsense for content. Buka page Adsense Setup –> Get Ads –> Adsense for Feeds –> Burn new Feed.

Dari sini, setup feed di Google Adsense sudah selesai. Feed baru itu akan otomatis dibikin di account feedburner Anda (account yang sama dengan Google Adsense Anda). Setelah ini Anda harus setup redirection untuk feed website Anda supaya melewati feedproxy google. SIlahkan Anda membaca referensi berikut menurut framework yang digunakan.

Selanjutnya adalah dari sisi website kita. Supaya pengunjung bisa subscribe konten kita, tentunya kita juga harus menyediakan suatu form subscription. Anda bisa generate code form subscription tersebut dari panel Feedburner Anda (menu Publicize –> Email Subscriptions).  Selesai
